Cacao Farm Tour with Hands-On Chocolate Experience
This is a full day journey into the life of cacao from tree to chocolate and from Earth to Heart., You will walk the land amongst the trees learning to recognize her rhythms, seasons and signals. When nature allows, guest may participate in harvesting a pod or two and opening the beautiful fruit to reveal it’s magic within. This is truly transformative experience as you completely rewire your nervous system while tasting an unfermented cacao bean.
From here, you will be guided through each stage of transformation:
Fermentation to drying
Roasting and winnowing
Grinding nibs into liquor
Tempering, molding and decorating your unique fine chocolate bonbon
This is not a demonstration as it is participatory, tactile and designed to awaken your senses and deepen your respect for cacao’s journey,
This experience (2-3 hours) stands beautifully on its own though most guests choose to continue with lunch on the farm due to the depth and duration of the day..
Farm lunch and chocolate dessert (optional addition)
Following the tour and chocolate making experience, guests may choose to stay for a nourishing organic lunch prepared with intention and seasonal ingredients, Lunch is unhurried and communal serving as a time to integrate the day, share reflections and enjoy cacao in it’s most joyful form, as chocolate.
Cacao Immersion - an overnight at the farm with Cacao Ceremony
For those who feel called into a deeper relationship, Divina Vida offers an overnight immersion experience within the cacao sanctuary that includes a sacred cacao ceremony and sound healing bath. This immersion is available to those who have spent the day with us in the field and in the production room and is an amazing way to honor and close out your experience with the healing power of cacao.
Ceremonial Cacao is far more than chocolate - it is a sacred plant medicine, revered for centuries by indigenous cultures as a heart-opening ally. In Costa Rica, the cacao tree grows in deep communion with the land nourished by rich soil, tropical rains and the hands of farmers who carry forward ancestral wisdom. Each bean holds nutrients but also holds and carries the stories of connection, healing and reverence for life itself.
To sit with ceremonial cacao is to be reminded of our place in the great web of nature. It softens the heart, clears the mind and awakens a gentle presence within. In indigenous traditions, cacao was offered in ceremony as a bridge between the physical and the spiritual, as a way of honoring the sacredness of both the earth and the human spirit.
